Coastal & Northern Israel 5 Day Package
Start off exploring Israel on our Coastal & Northern Israel 5 Day Experience Package, by immersing yourself in a unique coastal village is truly off the beaten track, as well as a tour of an Israeli Kibbutz, and tours of the top sights in Israel’s north.
Israel’s north has much to offer to all travelers and truly has a unique atmosphere and beauty. From forests, streams, small coastal villages, ancient ruins, mountains, and beaches, through to holy sites for Muslims, Christians, Jews, Baha’i and Druze, your experience here will be truly memorable.
This great value package departs from both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. We travel along the coast to Kibbutz Maagan Michael, where we will tour the beautiful Kibbutz. You will see fish pools, a small zoo, and the various facilities which keep this large communal society functioning, as well as hearing about the stories and lifestyles of those living there, directly from one of the local Kibbutz members. Following the tour, we’ll join the community for lunch in the Kibbutz communal dining room, before heading to Jisr az-Zarqa, a coastal village hosting the Juha Guesthouse.
After checking in, we will take a guided tour around the village. You can then enjoy some free time at the beach or exploring on your own. In the evening we’ll enjoy a Bonfire and dinner at the beach or a local home in the winter.
The next morning, following breakfast, we will travel to the ancient ruins of Caesarea, now contained and preserved within a small National Park. Caesarea is an astoundingly well preserved and rebuilt Roman city, once a prosperous and significant administrative center. The former glory of this once great city can be felt by walking through the various ruins such as the amphitheater, Roman baths, and port. We’ll have free time to wander around the site, before departing to Nazareth.
Nazareth, in the heart of the Galilee, is famous both for its association with Jesus and for its vibrant, colorful marketplaces and food stalls today. Spend your night in the magical Fauzi Azar Inn, where you can relax in the beautiful Arab mansion, tasting wonderful local cakes, or spend time in the large common areas under the magnificent ceiling artwork.
On Day 3, we’ll head to the Galilee and Golan regions. We will visit the adopted Town of Jesus, Capernaum, where you can marvel at the religious and historical significance of a site revered by millions of Christians throughout the world. Visit the home of Peter, as well as an ancient synagogue situated where Jesus taught. Then it’s just a short drive to the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus once preached his Sermon on the Mount and boasting almost 260-degree views of the Sea of Galilee.
Our next stop will be the Banias Reserve, a national park holding both historically significant and extensive natural beauty. With crystal clear streams from Mount Hermon running through the park, our hike in this Reserve will leave you with no doubt about why the region is arguably Israel’s most scenic.
The rest of the day will be spent tasting wine in a local winery, eating a delicious Arab-style lunch in a Druze village, and looking out from Mount Bental over the Israeli borders.
Join us that evening for a cooking workshop and learn to make delicious local food. You will learn how to prepare Freekeh, a traditional Arab dish that consists of green smoked wheat, chickpeas, and chicken with local spices. Spend a relaxing evening of cooking, chatting with other guests, and learning about the local cuisine from one of Fauzi’s staff members. After the cooking, you will sit down together and enjoy your creation, a delicious home-cooked meal. There is always a vegetarian/vegan option, and fun times are guaranteed for everyone.
The following day our adventure continues as we head to Haifa, Israel’s third largest city with a mixed population of Arabs and Jews. With a peaceful atmosphere and streets lining the coastal hills, you’ll be left with a lasting impression. Haifa is also the Holy City of the Baha’i Faith, and hosts many of the important Baha’i institutions and sites, including the beautiful Baha’i Gardens on Mount Carmel. We’ll have a great view of the Bahai Gardens before we leave for the crusader city of Acre, with its Templer fortress, ancient walls, beautiful mosques and marketplaces. Lastly, we’ll drive up to Rosh Hanikra, where the sea water has carved incredible caves into the cliffs, accessible only by cable car.
On the final day, following a delicious and rich Middle Eastern breakfast and a morning of exploring Nazareth independently, we’ll depart westward back towards Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, where our experience concludes.
