The Ultimate Desert Experience: 5 Days In Petra, Eilat & Dead Sea
If you’re dreaming of a desert escape packed with adventure, nature, and stunning landscapes wrapped up in one, this is the ultimate vacation package. Providing a comprehensive tour of the breathtaking desert region, your five days of exploring is a partly guided tour combining fascinating, informative guidance with individual exploration.
Departing from both Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, the trip begins as we head through the beautiful Judean Desert to the foot of Masada, an ancient fortress beside the Dead Sea. You’ll take a cable car up to capture sensational views and explore the archaeological ruins, before continuing to the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, an oasis in the desert, for a short hike. You can also take this opportunity to float in the waters of the Dead Sea and immerse yourself in its famous mud.
On the second day we will start our morning driving toward the Jordanian border, crossing the Allenby Bridge border and entering Jordan. Here, we will drive through the wild desert, stopping at Mount Nebo and Madaba, before continuing onto the Seven Wonders Bedouin Campsite— your home for the next two nights.
Enjoy Bedouin hospitality, including an Arab-style dinner and a comfortable bed for the night, and soak up the atmosphere as you rest beneath the clear desert skies to stargaze and drink a cup of delicious Bedouin tea.
As the sun rises on day two, it’s time to explore Petra, a famous archeological site set in a stunning red sandstone landscape. Following breakfast, we will depart on the bus for the city, one of the new seven wonders of the world and the highlight of this trip. Petra was once a major crossroads of the ancient Near East, and its Nabataean people flourished through commerce. You will have the whole morning to tour Petra with a guide, before taking a lunch break at a local restaurant. The afternoon is your opportunity to explore various sites, such as the monastery, before heading back to camp for dinner and your second night at the Bedouin camp.
The following morning commences with an exquisite tour of the Wadi Rum, a desert landscape virtually untouched by humanity. Experience the thrill of the vast scenic desert valley on a 4×4 Jeep tour, providing you with an exploration of this moon-like landscape, the red dunes, towering cliffs of weathered stone, and desert animals—glorious amid the sunset’s beautiful colors.
After, we cross back over to Eilat (Israel) where you will spend the next night in Abraham’s lively Eilat hostel. Our last day starts with a sailing expedition across the remarkable waters of the Red Sea by sailboat, swimming in its refreshing waters to explore the vibrant sea life, and the option to take in the region’s mountains via a Jeep Tour.
