FAQ'S
What does Canyoneering mean?
Canyoneering involves navigating down a watercourse running through gorges or ravines. These gorges can vary in width and depth, and the river’s flow can range from calm to fast-moving. While the primary method of moving down the river is walking, there are times when swimming is necessary. Canyoneering also involves crossing small waterfalls, and it may require jumping, sliding, and swimming in various water conditions. Although canyoneering is accessible to most people, it’s essential to follow specific rules and safety instructions.
Is the Kawasan Falls Canyoneering tour safe?
Canyoneering, like any outdoor activity or extreme sport, carries some risks. Our experienced and professional guides are always available to assist you. Before the tour begins, you will receive a safety briefing and be provided with essential safety equipment, including a helmet and a life vest.
Do I need previous experience?
No previous experience is necessary. The activity is suitable for anyone who is in good physical condition and has basic swimming skills. If you have any specific medical conditions, please inform us. The minimum age for this tour is 10 years old.
Does the activity require swimming?
Basic swimming skills are required. For additional safety, everyone must wear a life jacket.
What if I don’t want to jump or slide over the waterfalls?
There are lower jumps of 1-2 meters where there is no way around, but for higher jumps of more than 3-4 meters, there is always an alternative route that the guide can lead you through.
Can I wear glasses or contact lenses?
You can wear glasses in the canyon, but contact lenses are preferable, though they can still fall out. If you only have glasses, ensure they have a sports strap or tie, and let us know before departure. Glasses are worn at the client’s risk.
What can I take with me on the tour?
Since the activity requires both hands, you can only carry items in a backpack. For convenience, it’s recommended that the backpack is very small and contains as few items as possible. Keep in mind that everything you take will get soaked, so a good dry bag is essential for water-sensitive items.
What shoes should I wear?
The guide will provide a selection of plastic shoes, but there might be instances where a suitable size is not available. It is best to bring sneakers or your own river walking shoes. Sandals or flip-flops won’t work.
