Masada, a 2,000 year-old ancient Herodian fortress and UNESCO World Heritage site, is an absolute must-see while visiting Israel. Overlooking the entire Dead Sea central region, Masada stands as a symbol of strength and perseverance against oppression. Reaching its summit, just as day breaks and when the sun begins to rise, is a breathtakingly beautiful sight, whilst at its base, the remains of the Roman Legion Camp come into view. To make your way to the top, visitors can ascend by cable car or hike via two paths – one, a leisurely 15 minute, and the other, referred to as the ‘Snake Path’, one of Israel’s more renowned hikes, taking around two hours to complete. Rising around 400 meters from the Dead Sea, this climb is not for the faint-hearted. The Dead Sea is a natural wonder resting at the lowest place on Earth, at 400 meters below sea level, with waters so salty, one can float on its surface, and air so oxygen-rich, its almost too invigorating for words. There is simply nothing quite like it, waters rich in minerals and salts to heal and alleviate a wealth of health conditions. Just make sure no open cuts or wounds are exposed before entering the water or prepare to feel the sting! The Dead Sea region itself is a year-round health and beauty destination, attracting visitors with its bounty of recreational adventures.   Our Masada & Dead Sea Tours are designed to showcase the magic of the desert, whilst removing the obstacle of getting to these hard to reach regions by public transport. Experience a sunrise like no other, where rays of light awaken the desert from its sleep to reveal views across the desert and Jordanian Mountains. Our Masada Sunrise, Ein Gedi & Dead Tour offers just that, departing from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Eilat, stopping at the Ein Gedi Nature Research and Dead Sea beaches. Or spend the morning feasting on the famous Israeli breakfast before departing Jerusalem or Tel Aviv to explore the desert region, as offered on our Masada, Ein Gedi & Dead Sea tours, where a cable car whisks you towards the splendid views at the peak of Masada, before embarking on a hike through the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and a dip in the salty, mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea.   A popular activity at the Dead Sea is to lather the skin in healing mud before immersing in the water, leaving the skin supple, silky and rejuvenated. Our Dead Sea Chill Out Tour is the simplest way to reach the region and spend time reveling in its natural glory.   Or why not combine the best of the desert and its neighboring regions into a bundled itinerary for a non-stop piece of the action? Joining our Jerusalem & Tel Aviv One Week Adventure is the most exciting way to journey through the wonders of Jerusalem’s Old City, experience the heights of Masada, learn about the West Bank region, feel exhilarated on a Judaean Desert Jeep tour, explore a kibbutz and soak up the unparalleled energy of Tel Aviv on a bike tour of the nonstop city – truly a once in a lifetime, enthralling experience exploring the historical sites and modern-day culture so unique to Israel.
