A fascinating region of the Middle East, Jordan, resting on the East Bank of the Jordan River, is a wonder to its many visitors, not least for its distinctive Middle Eastern flair and sweeping Arabian desert landscape. Covering almost four times the size of Israel’s land, Jordan is contrasted by cultural and religious traditions, amid flashes of modernity. Jordan has long been a country of hospitality, welcoming visitors with open arms for centuries, from Nabatean traders to Roman soldiers and crusaders, who have weaved through the land, leaving their mark across pockets of the country which today have gained status as world heritage sites. Its capital city Amman, the most highly populated region of the country, is a political, economical and cultural center, a westernised city by Middle Eastern standards, descended upon by over two million visitors annually; where museums, worldly-fusion restaurants and a host of annual events are frequented by tourists of all denominations. Whereas Petra, the Lost City, is a contrast in culture and milieu, an ancient wonder carved into sandstone enclaves, takes visitors on a winding journey through the Siq, towards the Treasury and beyond. Abraham’s Jordan Tours are crafted with the authentic desert experience in mind, to provide thought-provoking and memorable excursions showcasing the absolute best of the country. Discovering Petra & Wadi in just a handful of days is more than possible on Abraham’s tours departing from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Eilat, where travelers will enjoy an authentic taste of Bedouin hospitality, delve into the historical cities of Jerash and Amman, venture through one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, Petra, and race across the red desert in a 4×4 to breathe in the close up beauty of Wadi Rum. Israel and Jordan, two Middle Eastern countries, each with their own distinctive flavor are a contrast in landscapes, religions and cultural traditions. Abraham’s eight day tour from Tel Aviv is an authentic immersion – spanning the modern, metropolis, nonstop city of Tel Aviv, buzzing with daily action and an effervescent nightlife; onwards to visit one of Israel’s last remaining communal Kibbutzim, before taking on the capital city of Jerusalem, the holy land, where each of the Old City’s quarters will be explored in detail; then departing onto Petra and Wadi Rum for a whirlwind tour topped off with a hike up Masada, a visit to Ein Gedi and a therapeutic dip in the Dead Sea. Not forgetting other pockets of the country, the Northern Israel & Jordan 5 Day Loop takes visitors on a unique journey through the unparalleled scenic Galilee region, visiting the fresh-water lake at the Sea of Galilee, onto sites of monumental biblical significance, including the fishing village of Capernaum and Mount of Beatitudes, the famous spot where Jesus preached his sermon, before a hike through the Banias Nature Reserve and a pit stop at a winery for a personal encounter with Israel’s outstanding repertoire of wine. Then it’s time to cross the border into Jordan for a two-day, jam-packed excursion across Amman and Petra, with the unique opportunity to experience the unique hospitality of Bedouin life with a night in camp.
