Israel is holy to people of many religions. For the Jewish people, the land of Israel is considered the ‘Promised Land’ and is home to the Temple Mount, one of the holiest places for Jews where the two temples once stood. Christians can walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and immerse themselves in his path including his birthplace of Bethlehem—an open-air museum where the Church of the Nativity, the Milk Grotto, Shepherd’s Fields, and the Virgin Mary’s Well lay intact for all to see, as well as the Holy Church of the Sepulchre in Jerusalem’s Old City, the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. For Muslims, the Temple Mount is one of the holiest locations, where landmarks of Islamic significance including Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, where Muhammad ascended to heaven, rest. In the Bahá’ís religion, pilgrimages are frequent to visit the Shrine of the Báb in Haifa and the Shrine of Bahá’u’lláh in Acre.

Galilee and Nazareth Tour

Abraham’s Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee tour is a whirlwind around one of the country’s most beautiful regions. Departing at the crack of dawn from Tel Aviv, you’ll fuel up on a quick breakfast at Abraham’s stunning Nazareth guest house, Fauzi Azar, before heading out for the day. The first stop is at the Church of the Annunciation, where the Virgin Mary was visited by the Angel Gabriel who delivered the news that she would bear God’s son.

There’s also plenty of time to wander the Old City at your leisure. Other sites on this tour include the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount took place; as well as Capernaum, the second home of Jesus where he healed many people, among other of his miracles.

Nof Ginosar Beach at the Sea of Galilee is next on the agenda. Here you can see the Ancient Jesus Boat that was discovered in the 1980s. The Sea of Galilee, also known as the Kinneret, is the lowest freshwater lake on earth. It’s also the renowned site where it’s claimed Jesus walked on water.

The tour wraps up at a family-run ecological farm, Rish Lakish. This stunning expanse is lined with thousands of olive trees and gives lessons on the fascinating process of oil production.

What to expect:

  • Explore the old-world streets of Nazareth.
  • Capture stunning views from the Mount of Beatitudes.
  • Take a dip in the Sea of Galilee.
  • Soak up history at biblical sites.
  • Delve into the world of olive oil production at Rish Lakish.

The tour departs from Abraham Tel Aviv at 6.30 and includes transportation to all of the sites, entrance to Ginosar Beach, and a guided tour of Rish Lakish to enjoy delicious olive oil tastings.
